Welcome To Vishwanath Sports Meet - 2024

Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder, MIT Group of Institutions, Pune, India has always cherished great love and interest for sports since his early childhood. He has been keen to follow ideal of the great noble son of India Shri. Swami Vivekananda who said, “Our country needs a few strong men with muscles of iron and nerves of steel I will change the face of Mother India. His reverence towards sports was inspired by his father Rashtradharmapujak Dadarao Karad, who was born in a humble farmer’s family. At a very young age, Prof. Vishwanath Karad sported a great sense of pride for the country and was known for being a staunch patriot and for his unflinching devotion towards the nation. As a mark of respect and remembrance of Rashtradharmapujak Dadarao Karad, a state-level wrestling event is organized every year at his birthplace Rameshwar from 2007. It heralded a new era in wrestling in the quaint village of Rameshwar.

Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad belongs to the Varkari Sampradaya, a community that is known for its Karma based approach to life, emphasizing moral behavior and devotion to the Lord Vitthal. He organizes Varkan Mahavir Kusti Wrestling competition on the auspicious occasion of Ashadi Ekadashi pilgrimage every year at Wakhan, Pandharpur.

His love and urge for the development of sports in rural Maharashtra is evident in his novel concept of Round Table conference to bring together the wrestling fraternity from all over India and the development of red clay mud wrestling akhada at MIT Engineering College in 1998 which was inaugurated by honorable Hind Kesari Ganpatrao Andalkar & Rastriya Kirtankar & Yog-Guru Shelar Marna.

Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad is a living example for the youth. At the age of 83, he has managed to maintain a good physique. In spite of having a busy schedule, he practices yoga daily. He is actively trying to nurture the love of sports in the minds of young students who are gradually deviating from the importance of physical fitness and real sports. MIT organizes a national level inter engineering sports meet ‘Summit’, every year. MANET Sports Meet is also organized every year at MIT Rajbaug, Loni Kalbhor campus to provide a platform for upcoming athletes and sportspersons to showcase their talent.

MIT-ADT University is now the torchbearer of this new era of Sports. The devotion and reverence of Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad towards sports has led to the 6th State-Level Intercollegiate Vishwanath Sports Meet 2024. In these trying times of the pandemic, it has become more demanding as students have been deprived of outdoor sports activities and health awareness. This event will certainly herald a new beginning in the world of sports as it will be the best platform for any sportsperson to perform and unleash his talent for the betterment of the future of sports in India.
